Battle of the books readers: The list of books for the 2014-2015 season is in the Kids’ Department along with most of the books on the list. Get a head start on the reading.
Children's story hours are every Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. A short session for babies and toddlers featuring a book, music and activities begins at 10:00 am. followed by a second session for the 2-5 year-olds. Afterwards, join us for a special craft or song.We have teen volunteers are here Saturdays from 1 - 2:30 p.m. Come and learn to do origami, make friendship bracelets or build with legos.
Quincy the Listening Dog is here on April 14, and May 12 from 4 to 5 p.m. He will be in the children's area with Nancy Diepenbrock, his owner and handler. Quincy listens to children read a book of their choosing. The sessions last 10 minutes. Call the library or stop in the children's area to sign up for a session.
The library began the program, 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, in January, 2015. Sign up and receive a parent folder, instructions, reading tips and a reading log for the first 25 books. At 25 books read, participants may select a finger puppet and book bag. The library has incentives for other benchmark numbers along the road to 1,000 books.
